Design & Customization Process

1. Customer Provides Optical Requirements

  1. Lens size;
  2. Optical requirements (angle requirements); if a target IES file is available, it is preferred;
  3. Luminous efficacy requirements;
  4. LED light source model;
  5. Assembly drawing;
  6. Lens material requirements (PC or PMMA);
  7. Application scenario;
  8. Other special requirements.

2. Optical Design Report

BFO’s outstanding optical design team will design lenses based on the customer’s optical requirements. The design is generally completed within 2-5 days, and a design report will be sent to the customer once the design is finished.

3. Structural Design

If the customer is satisfied with the design result, BFO will conduct the lens structural design and provide drawings for the customer to confirm the structure (based on the customer’s assembly drawings or other documents/drawings that are helpful for our structural design).

4. Structural Confirmation

After the drawing design is completed, it will be submitted to the customer for structural confirmation:
  1. The customer needs to confirm whether the lens structure conflicts with their PCB;
  2. The customer needs to confirm whether the lens structure conflicts with the luminaire structure;
  3. The customer needs to confirm whether the lens structure conflicts with the component positions;
  4. Confirmation of other information.

5. Mold Quotation and Product Quotation

  1. The price usually depends on the mold size and the complexity of the product;
  2. The quotation includes the price of the formal mold and the prototype mold. (Prototype mold is not mandatory and is determined by the complexity of the mold.)

6. Customer’s Mold Order

After the customer confirms the quotation, they will place a formal purchase order contract.

7. Payment

BFO provides a proforma invoice and payment information. Once the customer completes the payment, we will start mold production.

8. Mold Manufacturing and Production

It takes 30-35 working days for us to produce the mold. After the mold is completed, we will conduct a mold test and send the test samples to the customer.

9. Sample Approval

Customer approves the samples: confirm that the optics and structure are finally consistent with the design.

10. Mass Production

If the sample inspection is passed, the process is as follows:
  1. The customer places a mass production order;
  2. BFO prepares the proforma invoice;
  3. The customer makes the payment;
  4. BFO carries out mass production.
